Shiatsu
is a form of bodywork that is based in the Japanese tradition. It
uses traditional Oriental diagnosis, Five Element Theory, Zen Theory
and the same meridian systems and pressure points as acupuncture.
It is non invasive, using touch, finger pressure, stretching and
movement.
I am a member of the Shiatsu Society and trained at the British School of Shiatsu Do in Zen Shiatsu. I am now an assistant teacher at the school. I have also practised Yoga for many years and am a qualified First Aider.
I come from a movement and performance background having studied and worked as a performer, dancer and musician for many years. Training has included mime, contemporary dance, ballet, martial arts, & yoga.
I have always been fascinated by human anatomy and physiology. My interest in the body and movement lead me to the study of Shiatsu and bodywork. I am interested in physical and kinesthetic action/reaction and the healing power of breath and touch.
I am also passionate about making 'alternative' approaches to health and wellbeing tangible, credible, professional and real.
My work includes treatments for pregnancy and fertility, structural corrections, sport and dance injuries & corporate events.
Motherhand-Shiatsu
I provide treatments for private clients all week including a Monday & Thursday clinic at Eastern Garden from 12pm-9pm (visit www.easterngarden.co.uk).
Zen Shiatsu is a complementary
therapy, which gives the body space to re-balance its energy and
to find its own health both physically and emotionally.
There are many conditions for which shiatsu can be useful, such as:
muscular strains and aches
- back problems
- menstrual problems
- emotional strains
- fatigue
- insomnia
- discomfort during pregnancy.
It allows the receiver to reach a state of relaxation in order for change to come about.
Treatments include structural corrections and realignment when appropriate.
